A Showcase of Student Projects and Applications in Digital Technology

Overview

Bits On Our Minds (BOOM) is an annual student research fair hosted by Computing and Information Science at Cornell University.  BOOM showcases the breadth of student interdisciplinary computing projects.  The event has been growing in participants and attendees since its inception in 1998.  In 2003 we had over 100 students presenting 50 projects, and more than 500 faculty and students in attendance from Cornell, as well as other local colleges and the Ithaca community.

BOOM is an event that embraces all fields of computing research.  Students in the Colleges of Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Human Ecology, Architecture, Art, and Agriculture and Life Sciences enter projects. In sponsoring BOOM, a corporation is supporting research and innovation in its truest form.   Representatives from sponsoring companies are encouraged to attend the BOOM event, meeting with faculty and students in the morning and attending BOOM in the afternoon.

Benefits of Sponsorship

  • Corporations can forge research ties with our students and faculty
  • Sponsors are acknowledged on the BOOM website and in the CIS annual report, which is distributed widely to the top computer science departments in the country
  • Acknowledgement in event advertising, invitations and banners
  • Recruiting opportunities for undergraduate and graduated students
