The focus in developing this first version were more functional than aesthetic. The working version (presented today) meets all the general goals described in the overview, but can use much improvement in design on the administrative end. Thus, I am currently working on an update which focuses first on developing a better user interface and then on adding extra functionality.
To design a better UI for navigating the web of pages on the site, I am currently looking into developing a tree structure of pages, much like the Windows Explorer browser most people are already familiar with.
After UI development, new features to add include the following:
- system for avid visitors to submit their own stylesheets
- automated emailing or the choice of automated emailing to specified administrators with any updates to the system.
- automated emails to a subscription list to inform registered visitors to the site of new postings/news/etc.
- communication tools (e.g. bulletin boards) for web developers
